CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team held on to finish in second place by five strokes in the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament hosted at Campbellsville Country Club.
The Blue Raiders ended first-round play in a tie for second with Georgetown (Ky.) College on Sept. 21, but ended the tournament in sole possession of the runner-up trophy on Tuesday.
Lindsey Wilson shot a tournament total of 587 (292-295), trailing champion and host Campbellsville (Ky.) University (582) by five strokes. The Tigers gave the Blue Raiders a chance to compete after shooting a final round 299 after opening the tournament with a 283 on Monday.
University (Ky.) of the Cumberlands finished third with a 592 (294-298), while Georgetown went from tied for second to fifth with a 602 (292-310).
Lindsey Wilson freshman Antonio Arriola paced the Blue Raiders with a second-place tie in the overall standings. The newcomer shot a 144 for the tournament, carding 72 strokes in both rounds.
Blue Raider junior Joe Hood joined Arriola in the top five with a tie for fourth place. The Bowling Green, Ky., native finished with a 146 (70-76). Hood's first-round 70 tied his career-best round.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Daron Morris placed ninth on the leader board after shooting a 148 (75-73). Sophomore Nicolas Navarro with a 150 (75-75) and senior Travis Radford carding a 152 (77-75) finished 14th and tied for 18th, respectively.
Arriola and Hood were the Lindsey Wilson selections to the All-Tournament Team. The top-five individual finishers in the tournament were awarded a spot on the team.
Men's golf is back in action on Monday, Sept. 28, in the Lindenwood University Fall Invitational at Crescent Farms Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.
