Women's Soccer Beats SCAD 4-1

ROME, Ga. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team won its second straight with a 4-1 win over Savannah College of Arts and Design (Ga.) on Monday.

Lindsey Wilson sophomore Heini Metsola scored her first two career goals to help the Blue Raiders to the win.

The Blue Raiders wasted no time getting an early lead as freshman midfielder Mia Persson scored in the fourth minute off an assist from senior defender Yolanda Hamilton. Senior midfielder Lorna Heaton made the LWC cushion 2-0 shortly thereafter with a goal in the 17th minute.

Freshman forward Rebecca Bjorkvall was credited with the assist to Heaton, it was the first of three assists that the freshman would dish out for the night.

Metsola scored her first goal in the game's 34th minute to put Lindsey Wilson (3-2-0) up 3-0 heading into intermission. The Blue Raiders' offense remained quiet in the second period until the 80th minute when Metsola connected on the games' final goal.

SCAD (0-3-0) was kept off the scoreboard for the majority of the game until an own goal by Lindsey Wilson made the score 3-1 in the 67th minute.

Lindsey Wilson senior keeper Carrie Revlett delivered an impressive performance, making five saves as SCAD attempted six shots on goal. The Blue Raiders took 16 shots for the game, 11 of which were on goal.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 12 as the Blue Raiders travel to Lee (Tenn.) University in a battle of nationally ranked teams.
