Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Shawnee State (Ohio) University's Theresa Welsch scored a goal in the 70th minute, but by then the damage had already been done as the ninth ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team put together an 8-1 win on Saturday.
Six different Blue Raiders scored goals, led by Ida Gregersen and Sofie Jorgensen with two goals each. Caitlin Burke, Ida Olsson, Hanna Jonsson and Diana Da Rocha also scored for Lindsey Wilson.
The teams battled for more than 20 minutes before Burke scored the opening goal, while it was only a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.
Needing just 52 seconds to get things rolling in the second half with a 46th minute goal by Jonsson, the Blue Raiders went on to score five more times over the next 20 minutes.
Jonsson's strike early in the second half was assisted by Katy Gilmoue, while Olsson's 64th-minute goal was assisted by Jonsson. Da Rocha scored in the 59th minute off a corner kick.
Lindsey Wilson held the advantage in corner kicks 5-0 and took 32 shots, compared to just two for Shawnee State.
Reiko Yoshida played all 90 minutes in goal for the Blue Raiders, making one save with one goal against. Sara Cashdollar played the entire game in goal for Shawnee State making 12 saves with eight goals against.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, Oct. 8 against William Carey University in Decatur, Ala.
