Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- It was a feel good Mid-South Conference win for the ninth ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team as every player on the roster got in the game in an 8-0 blowout win against the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) on Saturday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The Blue Raiders (11-5, 7-0 MSC) tallied four goals in each half with eight different players accounting for the scores. Heini Metsola finished the game with three assists - all in the first half - and Mia Persson handed out two assists.
Rio Grande (5-9, 2-5 MSC) never got a chance to counter the entire game with the Blue Raiders leading in shots 32-0. RedStorm goalkeeper Hannah Stickelman was forced to make nine saves with the abundance of shots heading her way.
Caitlin Burke opened the scoring with the game winner in the sixth minute off a perfect cross from Metsola into the box where Burke was able to easily drive it into the back of the net.
The Metsola crosses into the box continued to work two more times the rest of the half for Ida Gregersen and Katy Gilmour to also get a goal. Elizabet Madjarac's score in the 39th minute was the last goal of the opening half and was also the first goal of her collegiate career.
Lindsey Wilson went on to score in the 58th, 63rd, 86th and 88th minutes of the second half. Persson dished out an assists on the first goal to a cutting Saki Kataoka. The remaining three goals by Elisha Fry, Persson and Ida Sorensen were all unassisted.
Jordan Morrison received the shutout in goal for the Blue Raiders, although not getting much action without a single shot attempt by Rio Grande.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Monday, Oct. 25 against St. Catharine (Ky.) College in the final home game of the regular season.
