COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The rain pouring into Walter S. Reuling Stadium started and never stopped Friday, bringing the top ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team's bout with Auburn University Montgomery (Ala.) to a premature close in the 79th minute, resulting in a 0-0 tie.
Soggy conditions or not, with tight defensive sets being displayed by both teams, there weren't a lot of chances to score a goal for either team.
The Senators never took a shot the whole game, while Lindsey Wilson attempted four, all in the second half. AUM led in corner-kick opportunities 4-3 and collected the lone save of the games with keep Steve Keller's stop of a long-range strike from Mat Luak.
Four yellow cards were issued in a competitive game that also saw 18 fouls called. With deep water pockets forming on the pitch late in the contest, the referees decided it was unsafe to continue and stopped the game with the score at 0-0.
The Blue Raiders record stands at 3-1-1, while the Senators close the game with a 2-2-2 mark.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Sept. 15 in the home Mid-South Conference Opener against Campbellsville (Ky.) University at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
