Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Sixth ranked California Baptist University struck a goal in the 31st minute and it was all it needed to record a 1-0 win against fifth ranked Lindsey Wilson College in the KELME Classic on Saturday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
After top ranked Concordia (Ore.) University knocked off the Blue Raiders 1-0 on Friday, the loss to California Baptist marks the first back-to-back home losses for Lindsey Wilson since the 1997 season.
Fabriola Da Silva scored the lone goal in the game off a cross from Jacquelyn Witz that crossed into the back of the net just out of the reach of Blue Raider keeper Jordan Morrison.
The rest of the game was an even affair with California Baptist leading in shots 13-11 and corner kicks 7-3.
Morrison finished the game with three saves, while Lancer keeper Nicoline Jorgensen scooped up six saves.
The Blue Raiders kept Jorgensen busy with a barrage of shots, but the talented keeper stood her ground and didn't let anything get past her for the equalizer.
Lindsey Wilson appeared to be the aggressor late in the second half as the Lancers played with the same 11 players all game, leading to a winded squad that played to the advantage of the Blue Raiders who tried a trio of fresh players late in the half to look for energy on offense.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Sept. 21 at Pikeville (Ky.) College in a matchup of Mid-South Conference teams.
