Balance Attack Leads Women's Soccer to 8-0 Win over Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- Seven different Blue Raiders scored today as the No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team beat host University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) 8-0.

Lindsey Wilson junior Hanna Jonsson was the lone Blue Raider to net two goals on the afternoon as she scored the Blue Raiders first two goals of the match.

Jonsson helped the Blue Raiders (12-0-1, 5-0 in the Mid-South Conference) take a 2-0 halftime lead with goals in the 19th and 38th minutes.

Lindsey Wilson exploded for six second-half goals to remain atop the MSC standings.

Lindsey Wilson's Mia Persson, Ida Gregersen, Patricia Nielsen, Saeda Sueki, Elizabet Madjarac and Samantha Cunningham all scored in the second frame for the Blue Raiders.

Persson added two assists in the match while Madjarac and Laerke Michaelsen each added an assist in the win.

Lindsey Wilson finished the match out-shooting the Patriots (7-8, 4-2) 25-9, including 17-2 in shots on-goal.

Lindsey Wilson senior goalkeeper Jordan Morrison picked up the win without allowing a goal and collecting one save in her 82 minutes of action. Freshman Ester Dam Simonsen finished the final eight minutes of the match in between the pipes.

Cumberlands goalkeepers Brittney Gadd and Brooke Bennett combined to allow eight goals while securing six saves.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3 p.m. CT on Sunday, Oct. 23, as the Blue Raiders host University of Pikeville at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. The match is a make-up of Tuesday's match that was postponed due to lightning.
