No. 1 Women's Soccer Takes Care of Pikeville 3-0 on Sunday

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- With goals from Mia Persson, Hanna Jonsson and Laerke Lillelund Michaelsen, the top ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team put the University of Pikeville (Ky.) away 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

All three Blue Raider goals were finished with an assist as senior Ida Gregersen, junior Patricia Nielsen and junior Saeda Sueki all dished out a pass for a goal.

With the win the Blue Raiders improve to 13-0-1 overall and 6-0-0 in Mid-South Conference play, while the Bears fall to 6-8-2 and 0-6-0 in league play.

Lindsey Wilson got things going offensively in the 19th minute as Gregersen passed straight ahead to Persson just inside the box for a shot at the goal that hit the left post before bouncing past the keeper for the score.

Jonsson struck he second Blue Raider goal of the first half in the 32nd minute as she bolted down the center of the box to receive a touch pass from Nielsen that she finished into the back of the net.

Lindsey Wilson closed the first half with an 8-0 lead in shots, including a 6-0 advantage in shots on goal.

The next score didn't come until the 65th minute as Michaelsen took a close-range pass from Sueki inside the box that she finished from just around 10-yards out to give the Blue Raiders a 3-0 advantage.

By game's end the Bears had gotten off just one shot by Sarah Wright while the Blue Raiders finished with 20 shots, including 12 on goal.

Senior Jordan Morrison went the distance for Lindsey Wilson, tallying the shutout without having to make a save. Pikeville's Chelsea Schutle collected nine saves and allowed all three goals while playing 90 minutes for the Bears.

The Blue Raiders also held a 9-0 advantage in corner-kick chances in a game that saw just seven fouls called.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Tuesday at Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
