COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Jasmine Brimm, Ashley Franklin and Monny Niamke wasted little time getting acclimated to being Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders.

The trio combined for 57 points in the 14th ranked Blue Raiders' 79-67 season-opening win against Berea (Ky.) College on Saturday at Biggers Sports Center.

The game was the first of their Lindsey Wilson careers as Brimm and Franklin transferred in and Niamke is a true freshman.

Niamke got it done with flash, scoring 26 points in 22 minutes, Brimm used her strength to muscle towards 18 points and Franklin used a balanced attack to finish with 13 points, five assists and three rebounds in the win.

Still, there were some areas for improvement in Lindsey Wilson's game as it struggled at times to rebound, despite the 37-37 tie in the final stats.

Shooting was also a concern, but just like the rebounds it went both ways with Lindsey Wilson finishing at 42.9 percent from the field and the Mountaineers just 41.3 percent.

To say the game was sloppy would be an understatement.

While both teams were playing their first games of the regular season, neither coach was pleased with the way their teams turned the ball over.

Lindsey Wilson finished with 15 assists and 20 turnovers, which on paper looks like a good ratio compared to the eight assist and 28 turnover showing by Berea.

Despite its woes shooting and holding on to the basketball, the Mountaineers were down by just eight points (62-54) with eight minutes to play before Lindsey Wilson jumped out on a 10-0 run over the next four minutes to put the game away.

Berea made the game interesting with Erika Parks and Shelby Romine who finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively for the Mountaineers.

Romine also pulled down a team-high six rebounds, while Parks and Katelyn Butler each knocked down a 3-pointer as Berea finished the game just 2-for-8 from behind the arc.

There were some exciting moments for each team, but a majority of the game was marred by continuous fouls by both teams. For the game Berea was whistled for 30 fouls and Lindsey Wilson 27 as three players combined fouled out.

The foul fest resulted in a combined 76 free-throw attempts with Lindsey Wilson finishing 25-of-37 for 67.6 percent and Berea knocking down 27-of-39 attempts for 69.2 percent.

For as bad as the free-throw shooting was, Niamke made up for it with a spectacular individual performance for Lindsey Wilson.

The freshman knocked down three of her six 3-point attempts to finish 8-of-14 from the field. To add to her stat line the Rouen, France native paced Lindsey Wilson with four steals, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.

Freshman Ranika Rone was the Blue Raiders leading rebounder with six, while senior Michelle Copley and junior Kasey Litzinger chipped in with five boards each.

Apart from the big three, Litzinger was the next highest scorer with six points on 2-for-3 shooting from the 3-point line.

Lindsey Wilson trailed by as many as four points in the first six minutes of the game but ended up taking a 14-point lead in the half on a pair of Franklin free throws before Berea cut the deficit to six with a quick 5-0 run before halftime.

The lead didn't swell into double digits for good until 13 minutes had been played in the second half as turnovers and consistent trips to the free-throw line helped keep the game close.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday against the University of Louisville in the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville, Ky.
