Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Allowing four first-half goals, Shawnee State (Ohio) University had little chance of knocking off the top ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team, ultimately falling 6-0 on Saturday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

The Blue Raiders got in front early with a sixth-minute score by junior Mia Persson, followed by a seventh minute strike by senior Ida Gregersen. Senior Diana Da Rocha assisted on Persson's strike, while Persson delivered the ball to Gregersen.

Twelve minutes later the Blue Raiders pushed ahead further with a 19th minute goal from sophomore Elizabet Madjarac and a goal by freshman Therese Hagbyhn in the 42nd minute ended the first half scoring, sending the Blue Raiders into the break up 4-0.

Lindsey Wilson (9-0-1, 4-0 MSC) held a 15-0 advantage in shots at halftime before ending with a 25-2 margin. In shots on goal, Lindsey Wilson finished the contest with a 16-1 advantage.

Hagbyhn played a role in the first second-half goal as well, dishing out an assist to her classmate Katarina Simic in the 50th minute. Freshman Malin Sjoback ended the scoring in the 61st minute with a long, unassisted strike from outside the box.

The Blue Raiders dominated possession in the opening half, not allowing Shawnee State (8-4, 1-2 MSC) to cross midfield with any regularity until late in the second half.

Lindsey Wilson finished with four corner kicks compared to just one for the Bears.

Both teams used two goalkeepers for 45 minutes each. The Blue Raiders used senior Jordan Morrison in goal to open the game and she finished without a save as no shots went her way in the first half. Freshman Ester Dam Simonsen closed the game for Lindsey Wilson with one save.

Shawnee State used Emily Kuehn in the first half and she finished with six saves and four goals against, while Shelbi Halverson collected four saves and allowed two goals in the second half.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at St. Leo (Fla.) University in St. Leo, Fla.
