RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- Lindsey Wilson College senior forward Moses Aduny scored a golden goal tonight to help the Blue Raider men's soccer team beat Campbellsville (Ky.) University 1-0 in overtime in the Mid-South Conference Tournament semifinals at University of Rio Grande.
Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson advances to the finals where it plays No. 2-seed and host Rio Grande. Kickoff for the championship match is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
Aduny scored at the 95:54 mark to give the No.1-ranked Blue Raiders (17-0) their second one-goal win over the Tigers this season. Lindsey Wilson defeated Campbellsville (8-10-2) 2-1 on Oct. 25 in Campbellsville.
Lindsey Wilson controlled the match for the majority of the first half and into the early stages of the second half. The Blue Raiders out-shot the Tigers 11-4 in the first 45 minutes and 24-7 for the match.
But the Tigers grabbed an advantage in the 56th minute when Lindsey Wilson's Lebogang Moloto was issued a red card forcing the Blue Raiders to play a man down for the rest of the match.
Despite the disadvantage, Lindsey Wilson continued to apply pressure on Campbellsville goalkeeper Kyle Thomas and the Tiger defense. The Blue Raiders ended the second half and extra period with seven shots on goal compared to just one from the Tigers. Thomas finished the night with 10 saves.
The second half would end at 0-0 sending the Blue Raiders and Tigers into their first overtime in the 22-match history -- all Lindsey Wilson wins -- between the two programs.
Lindsey Wilson's Eddy Campbell nearly ended the match as he dribbled down the right flank and sent a shot towards to goal five minutes into the overtime.
But Thomas was equaled to the task with a kick save -- his second save of the overtime. The Tiger defense cleared the save out of the penalty area and near midfield.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Carl Petersson collected the ball and dribbled it about 10 yards eluding a pair of Tigers along the way. He sent the ball forward to Aduny in the top left corner of the penalty area where he one-timed it past a charging Thomas into the bottom right corner of the goal for the win.
Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Yuta Nomura finished the night recording his 11th shutout of the season while stopping five Campbellsville shots.
Kickoff for the championship match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
