Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Behind 11 points and 15 rebounds from Jenna Adams and 16 points from Angela Spann the 15th ranked Lee (Tenn.) University women's basketball team ran past 14th ranked Lindsey Wilson College 60-39 on Tuesday at Biggers Sports Center.
Sophomore Jasmine Brimm was the only Blue Raider to register double figures with 16 points, while the team's leading scorer on the season, freshman Monny Niamke, was held to just two points.
Senior Ashley Franklin and sophomore Laura Skudra each added six points in the loss.
The game got away from Lindsey Wilson in the first half, being outscored 35-17. In the second half alone, Lee was just three points better at 25-22.
Only three players managed to score for Lindsey Wilson in the first half as Brimm finished with seven points, Franklin added six and Skudra connected on two baskets in the paint for four points.
Lee had no such problem as it burst out to an 18-point lead at the break with contributions from seven different players.
Spann paced the balanced first-half attack with eight points, while Adams had a solid stat line for a full game by normal standards with six points and 12 rebounds.
It was the disparity on the glass that hurt Lindsey Wilson the most in the early going as Lee used a 23-14 advantage to outscore the Blue Raiders in the paint 22-10.
Lucky for Lindsey Wilson the Lady Flames had limited success from behind the arc in the first half. Not being trigger shy, Lee put up 14 3-pointers but hit just three for 21.4 percent.
The Blue Raiders, on the other hand, struggled to score at all.
Hitting just 6-of-23 shots Lindsey Wilson ended up shooting 26.1 percent for the half. Niamke was held without a point, missing all six of her shot attempts.
Lee finished the game with a 36-25 advantage on the glass, while the points in the paint evened up some with the Lady Flames closing the game with a 26-22 lead.
The Lady Flames ended up shooting 43.4 percent for the game and knocked down 7-of-15 threes in the second half to finish shooting 34.5 percent from behind the arc.
Lindsey Wilson struggled from the field, shooting just 32.5 percent, including a 20.0 percent showing from the three-point line. The Blue Raiders did hit 7-of-8 free throws in the second half while limiting the Lady Flames without an attempt in the half.
Holding on to the basketball continued to be a problem for the Blue Raiders, turning the ball over 24 times with just seven assists. Still Lee fared no better, committing 24 turnovers, but distributing better with 13 assists.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 18 against Mars Hill (N.C.) College in the Biltmore Farms Classic hosted by Mars Hill. It will continue play in the classic the next day at 2 p.m. against Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) University.
