MARS HILL, N.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) University took its largest lead of the game of 11 points with just over six minutes to play, then the 14th ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team responded in a big way, erasing the deficit and topping the Bears 56-52.

The Bears quickly responded, taking a lead of their own at 16-15 with eight minutes to play in the first half. It was a lead that they lost just one other time in the half, as they held an advantage all the way until there was a minute and a half left in the game.

Franklin provided the go ahead basket as she came down with a rebound and took it all the way down the court for a layup. Leading 51-50 the Blue Raiders kept their lead the rest of the way, taking a lead as high as five at 55-50 on a pair of Franklin free throws.

Lindsey Wilson (4-2) was outrebounded 41-35, but took care of the basketball better as Lenoir-Rhyne turned the ball over 20 times, compared to 18 for the Blue Raiders.

The Bears didn't help themselves shooting 33.3 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from behind the arc. Conversely, Lindsey Wilson hit 40.0 percent of its field goals to help win the close battle.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Monday in the Mid-South Conference regular-season opener at the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in Williamsburg, Ky.
