COLUMBIA, Ky. -- After leading for nearly 33 minutes, the Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team scored just four points in overtime as Campbellsville (Ky.) University slipped by the Blue Raiders 69-61 on Monday at Biggers Sports Center.
The Tigers outscored Lindsey Wilson (15-7, 6-5 MSC) 12-4 in the extra period to seal the win.
Junior Charles Baker paced the Blue Raiders as the only player in double figures, scoring 10 points. Senior Brandon Clemons and juniors Justin Archie, Chase Spreen and Rayshawn Alexander added eight points each.
Reggie Smith paced the Tigers with 16 points and Shawn Savage added 15t, including a timely 3-pointer in overtime. Savage finished 3-of-8 from behind the arc.
Lindsey Wilson had a disastrous night shooting 3-pointers, hitting just 2-of-21 attempts for 9.5 percent. Campbellsville (13-9, 6-5 MSC) finished 45.5 percent from behind the arc, knocking down 10-of-22 attempts.
The teams tied in rebounds at 40, but Lindsey Wilson held a 14-10 advantage in assists, while forcing the Tigers into 16 turnovers.
Campbellsville opened the game on an 8-2 run, capped by a 3-pointer by Smith just three minutes into the game. Lindsey Wilson rallied back, eventually taking a 9-8 lead on a layup by Alexander at the 13:24 mark of the first half and led all the way into overtime.
The Tigers opened overtime on a 10-0 run that included five points from Savage. The Blue Raider's only points came from two free throws and a layup by Justin Archie.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday at the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in Williamsburg, Ky.
