CHICAGO, Ill. -- Just 45 seconds into the game, the fourth ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team had been fouled in the box and sent junior Lebogang Moloto out to finish off a penalty-kick goal that stood up as the game winner in a 3-0 win at St. Xavier (Ill.) University on Saturday evening.
With four shots, including three on goal, Moloto led a dominating Blue Raider attack that outshot the Cougars 11-6 and saw three different players score goals.
Aside from Moloto's first-minute, penalty-kick blast, freshman Philip Sandergren scored his second goal of the season in the 26th minute off a cross in front of the net from junior Eddy Campbell.
Campbell then got into the scoring act himself in the 64th minute, netting his second goal of the season off a pass from senior Samuel Asante 10-yards out in the lower left corner.
St. Xavier managed just two shots on goal all game, allowing Blue Raider freshman goal keeper Yuta Nomura to deliver his second shutout of the season with two saves.
Cougar keeper Kyle Held also finished with two saves but was scored on with a flurry of five shots on goal coming his way.
Lindsey Wilson improves to 2-0-0 on the season with the road win, while St. Xavier, who was receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll, falls to 2-2-0.
Both teams worked their way towards four corner-kick opportunities and the Blue Raiders led the game in fouls 23-16.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Sept. 13 in the Mid-South Conference opener at St. Catharine (Ky.) College in St. Catharine, Ky.
