Box Score RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- Shardae Morrison-Fountain's 24 points on 3-for-3 three-point shooting was too much for 22nd ranked Lindsey Wilson College to overcome, losing 78-73 in overtime against Rio Grande (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon atNewt Oliver Arena.
Morrison-Fountain – who also hit 7-of-10 free throws – wasn't alone as she poured in a career-high as Kaylee Helton hit all eight of her free throws and knocked down a pair of threes to finish with 20 points.
Junior Ashley Rainey and freshman Monny Niamke paced Lindsey Wilson with 17 points each, while junior Sarah Gillis matched a career-high with three 3-pointers to finish with a season-high 15 points.
The Blue Raiders led by as many as 12 points in the second half, but 23 turnovers with just 12 assists allowed the RedStorm to erase the deficit and take a three point lead with under 10 seconds left in regulation.
Blue Raider sophomore Jasmine Brimm (15 points, six rebounds) provided the extra life for her team knocking down a 3-pointer from the corner with seven seconds to play to tie the game at 69.
Sharnise Morris drove down the middle of the paint for Rio Grande (11-5, 2-2 MSC) and threw up a running layup as times expired that ricocheted off the glass to send the game into overtime.
Lindsey Wilson (12-4, 2-2 MSC) wouldn't score in the extra period for nearly three minutes and the RedStorm pushed ahead by as many as five points and the Blue Raiders never recovered.
After a flurry of missed 3-pointers, Lindsey Wilson eventually ran out of chances as Rio Grande's Kate Hammond (15 points, six rebounds) and Morrison-Fountain kept connecting on the big shots to secure the win.
Rio Grande pulled off the upset with less than stellar shooting from the field, hitting at just 35.9 percent, but got a boost with a 38.1 percent (8-of-21) mark from beyond the arc. Coming in to the game the RedStorm were hitting just 26.8 percent from three.
The Blue Raiders shot 45.0 percent from the field and just 22.7 percent on threes and led the rebounding battle 43-37. Rio Grande struggled with turnovers as well, committing 17 with just 11 assists, but outside shooting and free throws (24-of-30) proved to be the difference.
