Ronoh Wins Fourth Straight Race for Women's Cross Country in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio – For the fourth straight race, Lindsey Wilson College's Sharon Ronoh took first place at a cross-country race, leading the way on Friday at the Wilmington College Fall Classic.

Ronoh entered the race holding the course record with her 2011 time of 18 minutes and 4.22 seconds, but on Friday, she shattered that mark with a winning time of 17:11.45. Cumberlands' (Ky.) had the next closest harrier in Darcy Mascotti with a time of 17:56.41.

Behind Ronoh for the Blue Raiders was Sophie Tonneau in 18th place, crossing the finish line in 19:02.03. Maria Sanchez was next, keeping in the top 100 in 97th place with a time of 20:36.28.

The Blue Raiders tallied 404 points to finish 15th as a team in the field of 33 that saw 340 individual harriers run the course. Ashland won the team title with 82 points and three runners in the top-15, while Huntington took second and Mount Union finished third.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action with the regular-season finale at 10 a.m. CT on Oct. 20 in the Southeastern Classic in Berea, Ky. The Mid-South Conference Championships follow in Rio Grande, Ohio on Nov. 3.
