No. 3 Women's Soccer Stays Perfect in MSC with 4-0 Win at Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Mia Persson scored a pair of goals and defender Katarina Simic got into the act as well as the third-ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team remained perfect in Mid-South Conference play with a 4-0 shutout of Georgetown (Ky.) on Wednesday night.

It was Simic who will get credit for the game-winning goal as she struck first in the 24th minute after stealing the ball near midfield and using a few touches before ripping an arching shot over Tiger keeper Kelsey Givens.

With the Blue Raider (9-2-1, 6-0-0 MSC) defense keeping Georgetown at bay with only two shots in the game, Persson added to the lead with 25th and 29th-minute goals. Cecilia Ekstand, who assisted one of Persson's goals, scored the final goal in the 65th minute.

The win was Lindsey Wilson's seventh straight as it now looks forward to a game next Wednesday at home against MSC neighbor Campbellsville (Ky.) at 7 p.m. CT.

Lindsey Wilson is in good position in the conference standings at 6-0, while Campbellsville and Cumberland (Tenn.) loom closely with just one loss each.

Against Georgetown (5-3-0, 4-2-0 MSC) on Wednesday the Blue Raiders used a relentless offensive attack to wear down the opponent. Lindsey Wilson took 18 shots in the game and led in shots on goal 11-1.

Givens was forced to make seven saves on the night as Blue Raider keepers Josephine Frigge (78 minutes) and Loren Cerafice combined for the shutout with just one save between them.

Persson paced Lindsey Wilson with five shots, including four on frame, while Anna Ayers and Sarah Hencke each took a single shot for Georgetown with Ayers' on goal.
