ORANGE BEACH, Ala. -- Lindsey Wilson College's Laerke Lillelund Michaelsen and Mia Persson each scored twice as the second-seeded Blue Raiders defeated Ashford (Iowa) 4-0 today at the NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.

The Blue Raiders (17-4-1) advance to Wednesday's quarterfinal match against the winner of Tuesday's match featuring No. 7-seed Embry-Riddle (Fla.) and unseeded Robert Morris (Ill.).

During today's match, Persson became the program's all-time leader in goals and points passing Jill Lirbank-Almbaek in both categories.

The senior midfielder scored her 69th and 70th career goals in the match and added five points -- with an assist -- in the match to reach 166 career points to surpass Lirbank-Almbaek's 69 goals and 164 points.

Both teams missed early chances to score the game's first goal.

The Blue Raiders opened the match erratic as their first four shots failed to hit the target. While Lindsey Wilson misfired in the opening half-hour, Ashford (14-5-2) challenged Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Josephine Frigge with a pair of chances.

Frigge stopped both would-be Ashford goals, including a diving stop to her right to keep the match scoreless with just under 14 minutes left in the half.

The save ignited the Blue Raiders on the other end of the field as three minutes later Michaelsen scored from deep inside the penalty area on Natasha Gensetter's assist for the 1-0 lead.

The game appeared to be heading into the break at 1-0 before Persson netted her team-leading 28th goal of the season with 56 seconds left in the half. Cecilia Ekstrand began the scoring sequence with a rocket off the left post and onto Persson's boot. Persson calmly poked in the Blue Raiders' second goal of the match past Ashford keeper Jessica VanDyke to double the Lindsey Wilson lead.

The Blue Raiders were not finished.

Michaelsen scored her second goal of the game and 11th of the season with 17 seconds left in the half to push the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-0. Persson provided the assist to send the Blue Raiders into the break with the commanding lead.

In the second half, Saeda Sueki orchestrated Persson's record-breaking goal.

Sueki beat her defender down the right side and fed Persson beautifully just in front of VanDyke. Persson did the rest to score her second goal of the match and 70th of her career.

The Blue Raiders closed the match out-shooting the Saints 21-6, including 8-3 on-goal.

Frigge secured the clean sheet with three saves while VanDyke ended the match allowing four goals and collecting four saves.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday, Nov. 28, against the Embry-Riddle-Robert Morris winner at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
