Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. -- In just one half of action, No. 6 seed Lindsey Wilson College's Monny Niamke took over the game, scoring a game-high 24 points to lift the Blue Raiders over No. 3 seed Georgetown (Ky.) 86-77 on Thursday in the Mid-South Conference Tournament at the Frankfort Convention Center.
Niamke – who sat out the first half due to a violation of team rules – entered the game early in the second half and never came out as she hit 9-of-11 free throws and a big 3-pointer to advance Lindsey Wilson to Saturday's semifinals.
No. 2 seed Shawnee State (Ohio) is next up for the Blue Raiders at 3 p.m. CT.
While Niamke was the jewel of the second half, it was the combination of Jasmine Brimm and Ashley Rainey that kept the Blue Raiders in the game in the first half.
While both players picked up three fouls in the first half and earned a fourth halfway through the second, Brimm still finished with 22 points and four assists and Rainey posted a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Georgetown was led by the three-headed attack of Jessica Waddle with 17 points on three 3-pointers, Mikkah Rogers with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Andrea Howard's 14 points and five assists.
The Tigers outshot Lindsey Wilson from three 36.8 to 30.4 percent and outrebounded the Blue Raiders 58-38, but 22 turnovers proved the difference for Lindsey Wilson to steal the win.
It was a tight game throughout, with the Blue Raiders trailing 35-34 at halftime.
Niamke brought the Lindsey Wilson offense to life in the second half and Michelle Copley hit a huge three down the stretch to make sure the Blue Raiders held on for the postseason win.
