FRANKFORT, Ky. – Frigid shooting and 23 turnovers prevented the sixth-seeded Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team from pulling off its second straight upset in the Mid-South Conference Tournament at the Frankfort Convention Center.

Two nights after upsetting third-seeded Georgetown College in the quarterfinals, the Blue Raiders (20-12) fell short of the upset, losing 81-68 to second-seeded Shawnee State University in today's semifinals.

Lindsey Wilson shot just 30.4 percent (21-of-69) from the field, including 5-for-23 from three in the loss.

Defensively, the Blue Raiders forced Shawnee State into 30 turnovers, but gave up 51.9 percent field goal shooting. The Bears also won the rebounding battle 45-41.

Trailing by as many as 16 in the first half, the Blue Raiders tied the game in the early stages of the second half before the Bears (27-4) regained the momentum and sprinted away.

Ashley Rainey scored a game-high 30 points for the Blue Raiders. Her 12 rebounds give the junior 17 double-doubles in 20 games this season. Jasmine Brimm added 15 in the loss.

Catrice Mitchell led the Bears with 24 points off the bench.

Shawnee State advances to Sunday's finals against top-seeded and co-regular season champion University of the Cumberlands.

The Blue Raiders must now wait to learn their national tournament fate. The NAIA hands out its at-large bids into the national tournament on Wednesday, March 7. The national tournament begins on Wednesday, March 14 in Frankfort, Ky.
