MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Five different players scored a goal to help the top-ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team get past Florida Memorial 5-2 on Monday on a neutral field at the Auburn Montgomery Soccer Complex.
Philip Sandgren's 60th-minute strike into the lower left corner of the goal went down as the game winner after providing Lindsey Wilson with a 3-2 lead. Prior to that Keletso Mosime scored in the 28th minute and Lebogang Moloto and Renan Serafim added insurance scores in the 82nd and 83rd minutes, respectively.
Only the last two goals were given an assist for the Blue Raiders as Serafim sent a cross in from the left side to help Moloto score and Mosime issued the cross for Serafim;s goal.
Paulo Vaz scored the game's first goal for Florida Memorial in the 15th minute and later scored again to tie the game at 2-2 in the 61st.
But the Blue Raider attack was too much in the second half, adding three goals to secure the program's 31st straight win.
Lindsey Wilson edged Florida Memorial in shots 13-12, including a 9-5 gap in shots on goal. The Blue Raiders won another close battle in total corner kicks 6-5. There were 30 fouls called in the contest with Florida Memorial being whistled for 18 of them.
Yuta Nomura played the entire game in goal for the Blue Raiders with two saves, while Lion keeper Pablo Terminiello finished with five saves and five goals allowed.
The Blue Raiders are back in action at 7 p.m. CT on Wednesday against first-year Mid-South Conference program Bluefield (Va.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
