Football Falls at No. 12 Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The No. 12-ranked University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) football team scored 54 unanswered points en route to a 61-29 win over Lindsey Wilson College today at James H. Taylor II Stadium.

The Blue Raiders fall to 2-4 while Cumberlands improves to 5-0 on the season with its program-record 10th straight win dating back to last season.

Lindsey Wilson opened the game scoring on its first two possessions to take a 14-7 lead.

Lindsey Wilson's Branden Cresap and Chaz Barnes connected on a pair of touchdowns -- 15 and 73 yards -- in the first quarter to give the Blue Raiders the early lead. Cresap finished the game 29-of-45 for 368 yards and four touchdown passes. Barnes caught three passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

Cumberlands responded with touchdowns on all seven of their first-half drives to take a 47-14 lead into halftime.

The Patriots used the triple-option to near perfection on Saturday finishing with 409 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

Terrance Cobb led the running attack with 165 yards on 16 carries while D'Angelo Jordan contributed 107 yards to the Patriots total. Both finished with two touchdowns.

Cumberlands added to its lead out of the locker room with back-to-back touchdowns. The Patriots marched 65 yards over 11 plays to open the third quarter with a score and turned one of four Blue Raider turnovers into a touchdown to take a 61-14 lead.

Lindsey Wilson scored 15 fourth-quarter points as Chris Dobbins and Matt Powers each caught touchdowns. Dobbins ended with a game-high eight catches for 108 yards while Powers finished with six catches for 93 yards.

The Blue Raiders finished the day with 466 total yards of offense compared to Cumberlands' 498 yards. The Patriots did not commit a turnover.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 12:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, October 13, as the Blue Raiders travel to Campbellsville (Ky.) University for the "Battle of Highway 55."
