Tonneau Impresses for Women's Cross Country at Queen City Invite

CINCINNATI -- Racing against harriers from NCAA Div. I, II and the NAIA, Lindsey Wilson College freshman Sophie Tonneau was among the leaders, finishing 17th at the Queen City Invitational on Friday at the Mount Airy Forest.

The Blue Raiders finished ninth as a team 248 points as Tonneau's time of 20 minutes and 7.24 seconds lead the way.

Xavier (Ohio) claimed the team win with 33 points, while the host Cincinnati Bearcats took second with 56 points and Indianapolis rounded out the top three with 71 points.

Fellow Mid-South Conference program Cumberlands (Ky.) was fourth, while Georgetown (Ky.) took seventh and Campbellsville (Ky.) was eighth.

The next Blue Raider across the line was Maria Sanchez in 52nd place with a time of 21:40.12, while Amanda Bland claimed 81st place in 23:04.67.

Reini Brickson was close behind in 87th place (23:21.72) and Jourdann Green clocked in at 23:57.02 to claim 93rd.

Friday's individual winner was Darcy Mascotti from Cumberlands with a showing of 18:41.42.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 9 a.m. CT on Sept. 15 at the Berea College Invitational in Berea, Ky.
