Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – No. 2 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer defeated Auburn (Ala.) University-Montgomery 1-0 behind a Cecilia Ekstrand goal in overtime today.
The Blue Raiders outshot the Warhawks 15-0 and had a seven to none advantage in shots on goal.
Jamie Stanton had two early shots on goal, however Warhawks goalkeeper Chloe Crook made two saves to keep the score 0-0. In the 33rd minute Bettina Bruelhart had another chance for the Blue Raiders, but again they came up empty as the shot was saved by Auburn Montgomery.
In the 65th minute, Lindsey Wilson had a chance to break the deadlock on a shot by Natasha Gensetter, however Crook made the save. The Blue Raiders continued to pressure the Warhawks throughout the second half, but it yielded no goals as game went into extra time.
In the second minute of overtime Ekstrand broke the tie with a shot off the post that went into the back of the net for a 1-0 Lindsey Wilson win.
Ekstrand finished the game with one goal and two shots while Stanton had four shots for Lindsey Wilson. Lina Jepsen records second shutout as she faced zero shots in the Blue Raider win.
The Blue Raiders travel to Cumberland (Tenn.) University on October 16 for a 1 p.m. Mid-South Conference kickoff.
