COLUMBIA, Ky. – No. 5 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer defeated Georgetown (Ky.) College 8-0 behind two goals and an assist from senior Renee Hurd on senior night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
On a night where Lindsey Wilson honored its senior class on the pitch, Hurd managed five points in her regular season finale at home.
Emilia Jonsson started the scoring for the Blue Raiders as she scored an unassisted goal in the 11th minute to make it 1-0. Ayaki Shinada scored her 13 goal of the season in the 19th minute from a Natasha Gensetter pass to make it 2-0.
Hurd scored her first of the night in the 35th minute on a pass from Shinada to give the Blue Raiders a 3-0 lead.
The Blue Raiders held a 11-0 shot advantage in the first half while having a 4-0 corner kick advantage as they were able to maintain the three goal advantage to end the first half.
Hurd continued the Lindsey Wilson scoring in the second half with her second goal of the night on another assist by Shinada in the 58th minute to extend the Blue Raiders lead to 4-0. Cecilia Ekstrand made it 5-0 when she received a pass from Hurd and put it in the back of the net in the 62nd minute.
Gensetter extended the lead to 6-0 in the 65th minute. In the 82nd minute Jamie Stanton made it 7-0 on a pass from Alice Coyne. That was Coyne fourth assist on the season.
In the 90th minute, Ekstrand made it 8-0 on an unassisted goal, her fourth of the year.
The Blue Raiders allowed zero shots and no corner kicks while finishing with 20 shots on goal and 10 corner kicks.
Johanna Henrikson started in net and played 66 minutes and gave way to senior Loren Cerafice in the 67th minute.
After the game, Lindsey Wilson honored its senior class – Sabrina Tom, Mariah Willard, Shawnee Sutton, Morgan Hall, Cerafice and Hurd,
Lindsey Wilson travels to No. 12 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on October 29 at 7 p.m. CT for a non-conference game.
