LEBANON, Ky. – The No. 1 Lindsey Wilson men's soccer defeated Cumberland (Tenn.) University 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Raiders (9-1-2, 4-0-1 MSC) had 25 shots and nine on goal getting three goals from three different players as they captured their fifth straight win and third straight Mid-South Conference victory against Cumberland.
Xavier Baumgart scored his seventh goal of the season with a header on a pass from Tom Moody in the fourth minute to make it 1-0.
The Blue Raiders had a chance in the 33rd minute off a corner from Moody, but a Jordan Hall shot was saved by Cumberland goalkeeper Ian Hamilton.
In the second half, the Blue Raiders extended their lead to 2-0 when Renan Sarafim slid through the defenders and put the shot in the back of the net on an assist by Bastien Montagnon.
Albert Edward made it 3-0 on a shot that snuck past the keep after receiving a pass from the Sarafim in the 70th minute.
Lindsey Wilson's Christoffer Gatara started his fifth straight game as he saw only two shots on goal, one being a goal from about twenty yards out from Josh McCausland to make it 3-1.
The Blue Raiders return to action on October 16 at 6 p.m. CT when they travel to St. Augustine, Fla to take on Flagler (Fla.) College in a non-conference match.
