Men's Basketball Suffers 64-62 loss to No. 22 Martin Methodist

PULASKI, Tenn. – No. 10 Lindsey Wilson men's basketball fell 64-62 to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College tonight at the Curry Christian Life Center.

The Blue Raiders (5-5, 0-2 MSC) were led by D'on Hall who had career-high19 points in the loss. Tony Menton and Tony Horne both had nine points apiece with Menton leading Lindsey Wilson with a team-high six rebounds. Horne led all Blue Raiders with five assits.

The Redhawks (7-3, 3-1 SSC) jumped out to a 5-0 lead before extending it to 22-7 with 7:46 left in the first half. Lindsey Wilson cut the lead to 10, 25-15 with four points each from Horne and Hall but were unable to get going as Martin Methodist went on a 9-3 run to end the half up 34-22.

The Blue Raiders fought back into the game as they drew within nine points, 40-31 on a field-goal from Horne with 11:37 left in the game. Lindsey Wilson would cut the lead to one, 49-48 after a 15-6 run capped off by a Hall three-point shot.

Lindsey Wilson would tie it at 53 and 55 before the Blue Raiders would have to foul. The Redhawks Kadjion Townsend made two free-throw shots to give Martin Methodist a 57-55 lead. Lindsey Wilson had a chance to tie it as they grabbed two defensive rebounds, but both Hall and Alex Giergen missed three-point shots and the Redhawks expanded the lead to 59-55.

The Blue Raiders had one last chance to tie the game, down 61-59, when Robert Boyd turned it over to Lindsey Wilson with 58 seconds left but Hall missed the layup for the Blue Raiders. Martin Methodist would make three of their last four free-throw attempts to take a 64-59 lead. Tyrie Orosco would make a last second three however it was not enough for Lindsey Wilson. Martin Methodist would make seven-of-11 free-throws in the final four minutes of the game.

Lindsey Wilson finished the game with 28 fouls giving the Redhawks 25 points from the line - including 19-of-32 in the second half. The Blue Raiders made 14 free-throw attempts going 9-of-10 in the second half. Lindsey Wilson scored four second-chance points in the game while Martin Methodist scored 14 points off 12 offensive rebounds.

The Blue Raiders finished the game shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from beyond the arc while the Redhawks shot 36.2 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from the three-point line.

Lindsey Wilson returns home to Biggers Sports Center on Sunday, December 15 at 2 p.m. CT in a non-conference game against Philander Smith (Ark.) College.
