Men's Golf Shoots Low Round of the Day, Finishes Third at Coastal Georgia Invitational

ST. SIMON'S ISLAND, Ga. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team shot today's low round in the final round of the Coastal Georgia Invitational at Sea Island Golf Club Retreat Course.

Today's team-total of 1-under par 287 was three strokes better than host Coastal Georgia's 300 and 10 strokes better than tournament winner Faulkner (Ala.).

The No. 23-ranked Blue Raiders finished third overall with a two-day total 595 (308-387). Faulkner won the event with a 583 (286-297) and No. 11 Coastal Georgia ended in second with a 592 (302-290).

Lindsey Wilson's Ryne Burnett, Franck Medale and Nathan Clark all earned Top-10 finishes in the 71-man field.

Burnett led the Blue Raiders with a 1-over par 145 (75-70) to finish in a three-way tie for third -- his second career Top-10 finish. Today's 2-under par 70 matches Burnett's career-best round.

Medale matched Burnett's 70 in just his second collegiate round of his career. He ended with a 147 (77-70) and tied for eighth overall.

Burnett and Medale's rounds were the low rounds of the day.

Clark followed yesterday's team-best 2-over par 74 with a 75 today to finish with a two-day total of 149 -- good enough for a tie for 10th. His finish marks the 10th time in his Lindsey Wilson career Clark has earned a Top-10 finish.

Daron Morris and Nathan Hincks each made dramatic comebacks after struggling to opening round 82s on Monday. Morris fired a 1-over par 73 today while Hincks carded a 2-over par 74.

Morris finished tied for 28th with a 155 while Hincks ended in 31st place with a 156.

Faulkner's Daniel Jansen led wire-to-wire to earn medalist honors with a 140 (69-71).

The Blue Raiders return to action on March 4-5 at the Lee (Tenn.) Spring Invitational in Cleveland Tenn. The two-day tournament will be played at the Cleveland Country Club.
