Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. – Kristina Kripinski hit a walk-off home run in the eighth inning of game one and Jordan Hood and Lauren Seibert combined to throw a no hitter in game two to give the 19th-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team a 1-0, 3-0 shutout sweep of Bluefield (Va.) on senior day at Lindsey Wilson Park.
In Saturday's opener, Krupinski finished with two hits, including the home run, and third baseman Lauren Payne went 2-for-3. Center fielder Ali Hart collected one hit and proceeded to steal a base.
In the nightcap, it was Travatia Bowden leading the offense with an RBI, run scored and stolen base on two hits, while catcher Jane Egiazarova doubled, drove in a run and scored herself with one hit.
Outfielder Andrea Whelan added two hits in game two, including an RBI and a double and outfielder Antoinette Jenkins went 2-for-3 with a walk.
It was a pitcher's duel in the first game as neither team could score a run in regulation, despite a 7-2 lead in hits for Lindsey Wilson (35-5, 19-3 MSC).
Cara Law threw 6-2/3 innings, allowing a pair of hits with 11 strikeouts, but left the game in the seventh inning with runners on the corners and two outs. Jordan Hood (13-2) pitched a perfect final inning and a third with two strikeouts to take the win.
Bluefield's (7-27, 2-16 MSC) Aline Uehara went the distance in both losses, dropping to 3-17 overall, but had her best showing in game one, allowing the single run on just two hits with a strikeout.
Lindsey Wilson put a runner on third twice in the fifth inning, but was tagged out at home with the bases loaded and flew out to end the frame. Brittany Graves reached third while pinch running in the seventh, but was left there again by another fly out.
It was until the first pitch of Krupinski's at-bat in the eighth when she hit a towering shot to center field to win the game.
Bluefield had trouble catching up to Hood in the starting role in game two.
Hood stayed in the circle for six innings without giving up a hit and striking out nine batters. Lauren Seibert finished the job pitching to a sacrifice bunt, fly out and groundout in the seventh to earn the save (1).
While the Blue Raiders outhit the Rams 10-0, they still waited a few innings to get the offense rolling.
The first run came in the fourth inning as Whelan ripped a single to left-center to score Bowden who had singled up the middle. The lead extended to 3-0 in the next inning as Egiazarova scored Krupinski on a double to deep center and later scored herself after Bowden reached on an error in the infield.
Up next for Lindsey Wilson is a matchup with Cumberlands (Ky.) at 2 p.m. CT on Tuesday in Williamsburg, Ky.
