Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – Only five minutes into the 2013 season, the Blue Raiders took the lead and never looked back against No. 21 Davenport (Mich.) University.
Natasha Gensetter scored the first goal of the season for Lindsey Wilson (1-0) after a loose ball in the box found its way to her. After a quick scramble, Gensetter found the back of the net and gave the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead.
Opportunities became scarce after that with Lindsey Wilson posting the only other shot of the first half in the 12th minute.
The Blue Raiders got a little help to begin the second half when a cross was sent into the box and bounced off a Davenport (1-1) defender and into the net giving the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead.
The final goal of the game came in the 73rd minute when Carola Schneider fed Bettina Bruelhart inside the box and pushed the lead to 3-0.
Schneider received a pass from the right flank and tapped the ball over to Bruelhart to avoid the Davenport goalkeeper Michelle Marcus.
Marcus finished the game allowing three goals while recording three saves. Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Johanna Henrikson recorded the shutout while stopping the only shot she faced.
The Blue Raiders held a 5-1 shot advantage over the Panthers as well as a 6-2 corner kick advantage.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 31, as the Blue Raiders travel to No. 3 Spring Arbor (Mich.) University.
