Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team defeated Indiana Wesleyan 4-0 in game two of the Lindsey Wilson Stanno Classic on Friday night.
With tonight's victory Lindsey Wilson head coach Drew Burwash notched his 200th career win and is now 200-30-15 in his 11th season with the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson was able to strike first with a Ayaki Shinada goal in the 32nd minute. Thirty-eight seconds later the Blue Raiders capitalized again as Natasha Gensetter received a great pass from Jamie Stanton to take a 2-0 lead.
The Blue Raiders went on attack in the 37th minute when Carola Schneider slipped a cross through the goal box to a sliding Alice Coyne who was able to place the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0.
Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Loren Cerafice faced zero shots, but did have a strike hit the crossbar. That was the only action Cerafice saw in the first half.
The Blue Raiders added one more goal on a crisp pass from Shinada to Coyne for her second goal of the evening to make it 4-0.
Lindsey Wilson dominated in corner kicks, taking 14 compared to just two for the Wildcats. The Blue Raiders outshot Indiana Wesleyan 20-3. Gensetter, Shinada and Anna Vig each had four shots. Gensetter and Shinada each finished with one goal.
The Wildcats faced seven shots between Kelsey Powell and Rachel Fulkerson, who came in during the 67th minute. Jesse Craig had the only shot on net for Indiana Wesleyan in the 61st minute.
The Blue Raiders Cerafice started her first game in net and faced one shot in the shutout win over the Wildcats.
In game one of the Lindsey Wilson Stanno Classic No. 14 Martin Methodist defeated Westminster College of Salt Lake City 2-0 (Box Score).
The Blue Raiders will return to action on Saturday, September 14 at 7 p.m. against Westminster College in day two of the Lindsey Wilson Stanno Classic. Indiana Wesleyan will take on No. 14 Martin Methodist at 5 p.m. CT in game one.
