Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – No. 1 ranked Lindsey Wilson beat University of Rio Grande (Ohio) 6-0 on Saturday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The Blue Raiders (7-1; 2-0 MSC) outshot the RedStorm in the first half 13-0 as Lindsey Wilson applied pressure throughout the half.
Lindsey Wilson had three corner kicks in the first half and was able to capitalize on a Ayaki Shinada cross to Renee Hurd who was able to head the ball into the goal in the 10th minute.
Blue Raiders Jamie Stanton led the team with three shots on goal in the first half, including a great opportunity on a header in the 34th minute that went directly at the goalkeeper.
Lindsey Wilson came out in the second half determined to score, notching three goals in the first fifteen minutes of the half. Anna Vig crossed the ball in front of the net to a dashing Betting Bruelhart who was able to kick it the net to make it 2-0.
Blue Raiders Shinada added a goal to her assist on a nice move down the far side of the field to beat the Rio Grande (4-4; 1-1 MSC) defenders and knocked it past a diving Allison Kenney. Shinada got her second assist of the night after feeding Denisa Amin from a corner kick who headed it into the back of the net to make it 4-0.
Lindsey Wilson scored two more goals in the final ten minutes to make it 6-0. Shinada scored her second goal of the game on an unassisted touch that got past Kenney to make it 5-0. Vig made it 6-0 on an assist from Bruelhart in the 88th minute.
Blue Raider's Vig finished the game with a goal and an assist while Shinada score two and assisted on two others. Johanna Henrikson made one save in another shutout win for Lindsey Wilson.
Lindsey Wilson will face Lee (Tenn.) University at 7 p.m. on September 26 at Walter S. Reuling Stadium in a non-conference matchup.
