Tshimpi's goal sends Men's Soccer to 1-0 win over Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Anthony Tshimpi scored his first career goal to lead the No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over host Flagler (Fla.) tonight at Saints Field.

Tshimpi scored off Tom Moody's third assist of the season in the 10th minute to give the Blue Raiders (9-2-1) the early lead.

Moody set up the goal by dribbling 20 yards down the left flank. He served the ball across the face of the goal past Flagler goalkeeper Joey LaSala's dive and onto the boot of Tshimpi who scored into the empty goal.

The goal was the lone score in the opening half that saw the Blue Raiders out-shoot their hosts 13-6. Lindsey Wilson finished the match with a 19-9 shots advantage, including a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.

The game turned physical in the second half as the two teams combined for seven cards and 29 fouls.

Ultimately, the Blue Raiders improved to 3-1 all-time against the Saints (5-7-1) with the 1-0 win.

Dalyan Hawes collected his fifth shutout of the season for the Blue Raiders between the pipes. He ended the match with four saves. LaSala stopped four Lindsey Wilson shots while allowing the one goal.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on at 7 p.m. CT on Sunday, Oct. 19, as the Blue Raiders host Pikeville (Ky.) in a Mid-South Conference match at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
