COLUMBIA, Ky. - The sixth-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team throttled Pikeville (Ky.) 10-0 Sunday evening on Senior Night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The Blue Raiders (8-3-2, 5-0-0 MSC) scored eight of their 10 goals in the second half.
Seniors Ayaki Shinada and Elizabet Madjarac each posted goals for the Blue Raiders. Senior Katarina Simic helped provide a stout defense that allowed only one shot from the Bears (8-5-0, 2-3-0 MSC).
Lyana Perez, Karin Bernet and Carola Schneider each scored two goals for the squad in the win. Bettina Brulhart and Amanda Kander each tallied one goal for Lindsey Wilson.
Perez started the scoring barrage in the 18th minute when Shinada fed a pass to her into the box. Perez fired it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Kander scored from just inside the penalty area off a pass from Brulhart for the 2-0 lead.
The Blue Raiders led at the break 2-0.
Shinada scored the first goal of the second half in the 47th minute off an assist from Karin Bernet. Schneider then added a goal in the 59th minute after she received a pass from Brulhart.
Madjarac and Bernet each added a goal in the 61st minute, followed by another goal from Bernet in the 67th minute off an assist from Michela Bengtsson.
Brulhart added her second goal of the match in the 77th minute off a rebound from Pikeville's goalkeeper Chelsea Schulte.
Perez scored her second goal of the match in the 86th minute followed by Schneider's second goal of the game in the 89th minute after receiving a pass from Brulhart.
Lindsey Wilson outshot Pikeville 41-1 including 23 shots on goal. The Bears lone shot came in the 28th minute by Eleanor Hollingsworth on a free kick that Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Johanna Henriksson punched over the goal to preserve the clean sheet.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 22, as the Blue Raiders travel to Georgetown (Ky.). Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT.
