Women's Soccer shuts out Columbia 4-0, earns trip to National Championship Final Site

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The sixth-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team blanked visiting Columbia (Mo.) 4-0 in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round game Saturday afternoon at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

The Blue Raiders (14-3-3) earn a trip to Orange Beach, Alabama, the final site of the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship.

The Lindsey Wilson offense started early against the unseeded Cougars with a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Lyana Perez scored the game's first goal in the fifth minute off Elizabet Madjarac's first of two assists in the game. Madjarac fed Perez who chipped the ball over Cougars' goalkeeper Flavia Rosado for her 12th goal of the season.

In the 10th minute, Madjarac was once again setting up a teammate as she sent a ball deep into the penalty box for Anna Vig. Vig collected the pass and scored her 15th goal of the season to give the Blue Raiders the 2-0 lead.

Carola Schneider pushed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-0 in the 34th minute. Nomvula Kgoale started the scoring chance with a pass to just outside the six-yard box and Schneider punched it home for the third goal of the game.

Kgoale added the final goal of the night giving the Blue Raiders four different goal scorers in the match. Kgoale scored off a Bettina Brulhart assist in the 87th minute to give Lindsey Wilson a 4-0 lead and the eventual win.

Lindsey Wilson out-shot Columbia 22-0 in the game.

Lindsey Wilson's advances to the national tournament's second round to face No. 11-seed and host Mobile (Ala.) at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
