CLEVELAND, Tenn. – An 87th minute goal by Karin Bernet helped the eighth-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over NCAA Division II member Lee (Tenn.) on Monday night.

The Blue Raiders improve to 10-3-3 on the year with the victory while the Flames fall to 11-5-1.

Despite Lindsey Wilson possessing the ball for the majority of the first half, the Blue Raiders were unable generate much offense.

Lindsey Wilson had four shots in the first 45 minutes of play, but none were on target. Lee managed just one shot in the opening half.

The Blue Raiders saw their first scoring attempt shortly after halftime. Anna Vig and Elizabet Madjarac played a give and go inside the 18-yard box, but Vig's shot went directly at Lee goalkeeper Marbel Egwuenu.

Lindsey Wilson had another chance in the 71st minute when Vig fed the ball to Amanda Kander near the penalty spot. Kander attempted to turn and shoot in the same motion, but did not make strong contact with the ball as it rolled to the keeper for an easy save.

The Flames got their lone shot on goal of the game in the 80th minute. A free kick from past midfield was sent into the box and headed in the air towards Blue Raider goalkeeper Johanna Henriksson, who easily collected the ball for the save.

Lindsey Wilson was finally able to break the Lee defense in the 87th minute.

Vig dribbled down deep into the Flames' 18-yard box before passing the ball back towards the middle where a group of players had gathered. Madjarac was able to find the ball and pass it out to the other side of the box where Bernet collected it and fired into the net past the diving keeper for the 1-0 lead.

The Blue Raider defense then withstood heavy pressure from the Flames in the final minutes to preserve the win.

Lindsey Wilson finished with a 9-4 shot advantage, including a 3-1 mark in shots on goal. Lee finished with four corner kicks compared to the Blue Raiders' one.

Henriksson collected her seventh shutout of the season in goal while making one save.

The Blue Raiders now prepare for postseason play as they open the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. CT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
