No. 4 Men's Soccer shuts out Georgetown 5-0 in MSC Tournament Quarterfinals Saturday afternoon

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The fourth-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team shut out Georgetown (Ky.) 5-0 in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

The No. 1-seeded Blue Raiders (12-2-2, 6-0-1 MSC) scored four of their five goals in the second half.

Yusuf Ackers had two goals in the game with the first coming in the 45th minute to give the team a 1-0 lead.

Renan Serafim crossed the ball from deep inside the 18-yard box back out towards the penalty spot. Ackers met the rolling ball at full speed and unleashed a howitzer into the back of the net with just 25 seconds to play before the half.

Lindsey Wilson doubled the lead after an own goal by Georgetown when a Tigers' player slid the ball in the net when he attempted to clear a cross from Lindsey Wilson's Elijah Ukpong in the 64th minute. Ukpong would score a goal of his own in the 68th minute after receiving a pass from Tom Moody on a free kick.

Billal Qsiyer scored 10 minutes later in the 78th minute off an assist from Caio Da Cruz. Ackers then scored his second goal of the game in the 81st minute to give the team a 5-0 lead.

Eighth-seeded Georgetown (5-13-0, 1-6-0 MSC) managed only two shots the entire game. Lindsey Wilson had 22 total shots with seven on goal.

The Blue Raiders had eight corner kicks on the day, while the Tigers had just one.

The Blue Raiders next take on fourth-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) on Nov. 13 in Campbellsville, Kentucky in the MSC semifinals. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
