Men's Golf takes First Place at the Blue Raider Classic

JAMESTOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team finished in first place at the Blue Raider Classic at Lake Cumberland Golf Course on Tuesday.

Lindsey Wilson won the tournament with a final round score of 297 for a tournament total of 589 (292-297), three strokes ahead of Cumberland (Tenn.). The win is the second for the Blue Raiders this spring, as they won the Reinhardt (Ga.) Invitational on March 10. Cumberland finished in second with a final score of 592 (290-302) while Cumberlands (Ky.) took third place with a final score of 599 (302-297).

The Lindsey Wilson B team finished in fifth place with a score of 633 (309-324) while the Lindsey Wilson C team took 11th place with a final score of 727 (351-376).

The Blue Raiders averaged 3.25 strokes on the par 3 holes, second best in the tournament while shooting an average of 4.35 strokes on all the par 4 holes. Lindsey Wilson led the tournament on the par 5 holes, shooting 4-under par for the tournament with a 4.80 stroke average.

Lindsey Wilson finished the tournament with 110 pars, 13 birdies and one eagle in the two-day tournament.

In the individual tournament, Franck Medale finished in third place with a final round 3-over par 73. Medale finished the tournament at 5-over par 145 with a tournament best 27 pars. Medale averaged 4.25 strokes on all par 4 holes and 4.75 strokes on all par 5 holes.

Medale was three shots off Michal Pospisil of Cumberlands who won the individual tournament with a 2-over par 142 (68-74). Pospisil was 1-under par on the par 3 holes, a tournament best 2-over par on the par 4 holes and finished with six birdies 22 pars. Austin Garrett of Cumberland finished in second place with a 3-over par 143.

Chris Butler finished the tournament in fifth place after a final round 9-over par 79. Butler finished the tournament 7-over par 147 with 24 pars and 3-under on the par 5 holes. Jonathon Grabara tied for seventh place after a final round 3-over par 73. Grabara shot 6-over par on the par 4 holes and averaged 4.75 strokes on the par 5 holes throughout the tournament.

Federico Navarro shot an 11-over par 151 (76-75) to finish in 10th place while Nathan Hincks tied for 18th place after a final round of 6-over par 76 for a two day total of 156 (80-76).

Lindsey Wilson B team was led by Zach Madewell who tied for 18th place with a 16-over par 156. Clayton Bradshaw and Alex Durham finished in a tie for 22nd place with a 18-over par 158. Jordan Hagan shot a 21-over par 161 to finish the tournament in a tie for 33rd place. Logan Lampton shot a 44-over par 184 to finish in 56th place.

Chase Nunn led the Lindsey Wilson C team with a 26-over par 166 to finish in 42nd place. Jake Wall shot a 36-over par 176 to finish tied for 52nd place while Trey Garmon shot a 37-over par 177 to finish in 54th place. Shade Jacobs took 59th place with a 68-over par 208.

The Blue Raider Classic served as the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament.

Lindsey Wilson is back on the course April 14-15 at the Berry (Ga.) College Invitational in Rome, Ga.
