Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The third-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team tied 0-0 with No. 13 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) in the second game of the Lindsey Wilson Stanno Classic at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Friday night.
Lindsey Wilson (3-1-1) had 11 total shots for the game compared to five by Martin Methodist (4-1-1).
The first half saw both teams put forth strong defensive efforts as the Blue Raiders managed the lone shot on goal in the period.
After the break, the Lindsey Wilson offense opened up in the second half, placing another four shots on target, but all were saved by Martin Methodist keeper Jhani Williams.
The best chance for the Blue Raiders came in the 89th minute as Bettina Brulhart found a loose ball come her way after a cross, but was unable to convert, sending the shot over the crossbar.
Brulhart led the team with three shots on the night, two of which were on goal. Karin Bernet, Amanda Kander and Gwendoline Fai also each tallied a shot on goal.
Blue Raider goalkeeper Johanna Henriksson was forced to make just one save in the match.
Fabiola Sanchez led the Redhawks with three total shots. Pamela Gorgona tallied the lone shot on goal for Martin Methodist.
Lindsey Wilson had eight total corner kicks, including four in the first half. The Redhawks had a total of four for the game. The physical contest saw both teams finish with 13 fouls apiece.
Eighth-ranked Cumberland (Tenn.) defeated seventh-ranked Davenport (Mich.) 4-0 in the first game of the Lindsey Wilson Stanno Classic.
Lindsey Wilson faces Davenport tomorrow night at 7 p.m. CT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium in the final game of the Stanno Classic.
