Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team concluded their California road trip on Wednesday night with a 3-0 loss to No. 8 Westmont (Calif.).
Westmont (9-2-1) snapped the Blue Raiders (9-1-2) 23-game unbeaten streak, which dated back to Oct. 19, 2014.
The Warriors got on the board early in the first half as they capitalized off a corner kick in the 10th minute. The Blue Raiders had a few scoring chances in the first half, but Lindsey Wilson could not find the back of net as they hit the post twice the half. Westmont took a 1-0 lead into the break.
The second half started the same way for the Warriors as they scored on a corner kick early in the half to increase their lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute.
After the Blue Raiders had a near scoring chance inside the six-yard box, Westmont countered to grab another insurance goal in the 80th minute to take a 3-0 lead.
Lindsey Wilson was unable to score in the final minutes of the match as they suffered their first loss of the season. This is the first time since the Blue Raiders have been shutout since Sept. 24, 2014 against William Carey (Miss.), which is the first time in 27 matches.
The Blue Raiders continue their four-game road swing as they step back into Mid-South Conference play on Tuesday when they face No. 16 Campbellsville (Ky.) in Campbellsville, Ky., at 5 p.m. CT.
