Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio. — Aleksi Pahkasalo scored in the 82nd minute to lift the No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Shawnee State (Ohio) on Saturday at the Shawnee Turf.
Lindsey Wilson (12-3-1, 4-1-0 MSC) outshot Shawnee State (5-9-0, 2-3-0 MSC) 20-6, including a 9-2 shot on goal advantage. Pahkasalo attempted 10 shots, including five on goal. No other Blue Raiders attempted more than two.
The Lindsey Wilson offense launched eight shots in the first half compared to three by Shawnee State, but the Blue Raiders were unable to get anything past the Bear's keeper Corey Huneke, who stopped 7-of-8 shots faced in the game.
In the second half, the Blue Raiders found the back of the net on their 18th shot of the game, when Pahkasalo rifled the ball past Huneke for the game winner.
Yuta Nomura saved the two shots he faced to record his ninth shutout of the season for the Blue Raiders and increase his program-record career shutout total to 33.
