Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Yvonne Ploeg scored a career-high four goals and Lyana Perez added two goals to lead top-ranked Lindsey Wilson to a 6-0 win over Shawnee State (Ohio) at Shawnee Turf.
Lindsey Wilson claims at least a share of the program's 15th Mid-South Conference regular season title with today's win. The Blue Raiders improve to 11-1-2 overall and 6-0 in the Mid-South Conference. Lindsey Wilson can claim the outright conference title with a win over Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday in its regular season conference finale.
Perez opened the scoring today with her 11th and 12th goals of the season.
Emilia Jonsson set up Perez in the fifth minute with her fifth assist of the season to give Lindsey Wilson the early 1-0 lead. Perez added her second goal of the game in the 13th minute off a Ploeg assist for the 2-0 lead.
Ploeg took the scoring from there.
She doubled the Lindsey Wilson score before halftime with unassisted goals at the 23rd and 34th minutes for a 4-0 lead at the break.
Ploeg -- who now has a team-high 14 goals -- scored twice more in the second half to push her multiple-goal games to four this season. She scored three goals against Martin Methodist (Tenn.) and two goals each against St. Catharine (Ky.) and Vanguard (Calif.) earlier this season.
Lindsey Wilson closed the match out-shooting the host Bears (7-6-1, 1-4 in the MSC) 21-2, including 15-1 in shots on goal.
Johanna Henriksson posted her seventh shutout of the season while collecting one save. Shawnee State's Michael Garner allowed all six goals while stopping nine Lindsey Wilson shots.
The Blue Raiders return to action at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 24, as Cumberlands visits Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
