Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The 11th-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team was handed their second Mid-South Conference loss of the season on Wednesday night as Campbellsville (Ky.), who is receiving votes in the polls this week, came a way with a 3-0 victory over the Blue Raiders.
After not being shutout through their first 14 games of the season, Lindsey Wilson (12-4-1, 5-2-0 MSC) was handed their second shutout in their last three matches.
The Tigers (12-2-0, 5-0-0 MSC) got on the board early in the match, as they struck for a goal in the third minute to take a 1-0 lead. Offense was at a premium throughout the first half for both teams, as Lindsey Wilson only had two shots – one of which hit the side netting – while Campbellsville only fired four shots in the half with two hitting the target.
In second half, both teams came out firing, as there was a combined five shots in the first seven minutes of the half. Aleksi Pahkasalo had back-to-back shots on target in the 47th minute but the Tiger goalkeeper was able to keep Campbellsville ahead, 1-0.
Campbellsville was able to increase their lead in the 54th minute on a goal from Guilherme Franck. Franck then gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead in the 56th minute with his second goal of the match.
The Blue Raiders were unable to tally a goal as they suffered their second MSC loss of the season against Campbellsville, 3-0.
This is the first time in the all-time series between the Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville that the Tigers were able to beat the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson was 26-0-0 against Campbellsville coming into the match on Wednesday night.
With their 2015 regular season conference schedule complete, the Blue Raiders are going to be the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament as they finished with a 5-2 record in the Mid-South Conference.
Lindsey Wilson completes their regular season schedule on Saturday night as they host Point Park (Pa.) for Senior Night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. CT.
