Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team captured the Mid-South Conference regular season title outright on Saturday night with a 6-1 victory over Cumberlands (Ky.).
Fabienne Rochaix and Amanda Kander led the offensive attack for Lindsey Wilson (12-1-2, 7-0-0 MSC), as they scored two goals apiece in the victory over Cumberlands (8-4-3, 2-3-1 MSC).
The Blue Raiders got on the board early in the first half as Rochaix beat the Patriot goalkeeper in the second minute to give Lindsey Wilson a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Emma Skaremo put the Blue Raiders ahead 2-0 after Ivana Damnjanovic dished her the ball and Skaremo slotted the ball in the back of the net.
Rochaix picked up her second goal of the match in the 16th minute to give the Blue Raiders a 3-0 lead after she ripped a shot off at the top of the 18-yard box.
Cumberlands got on the board in the 20th minute after they knocked in a loose ball under Johanna Henriksson and into the net to make it a 3-1 game.
Lindsey Wilson scored another quick goal to start the second half as Kander scored her first goal of the game in the 51st minute. Emilia Jonsson continued the offensive attack for the Blue Raiders scoring in the 54th minute as Emma Skaremo picked the assist.
Kander rounded out the scoring in the match with a goal in the 72nd minute after Yvonne Ploeg sent in a through ball to spring Kander with a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper, and she was able to give the Blue Raiders a 6-1 lead.
Henriksson kept the Patriots at ease in the final ten minutes of the game as the Blue Raiders grabbed the 6-1 victory.
With the victory, Lindsey Wilson captures the outright Mid-South Conference title as they completed the conference schedule with a record of 7-0-0.
The Blue Raiders conclude their 2015 regular season on Wednesday night as they host Georgia Gwinnett at 7 p.m. CT on Senior Night.
