Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The No. 1 ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament with a 5-0 win over Pikeville (Ky.) on Thursday night.
Yvonne Ploeg scored two goals in the first half to lead the Blue Raiders (14-1-2) to a 5-0 win over the Tigers (4-15-0). Lyana Perez and Amanda Kander also chipped with one goal apiece for Lindsey Wilson.
After not being able to record a shot on goal in the first eight minutes, the Blue Raider offense settled in as Ploeg scored the first goal of the game for Lindsey Wilson in the ninth minute after Kander fed her the ball.
In the 21st minute, Delfina Santellan played the ball up to Perez, where Perez found herself one-on-one with the Pikeville goalkeeper and she slotted the ball into the upper right corner of the net to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead.
Ploeg scored her second goal of the game to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-0 lead in the 24th minute. Thirty-four seconds later, Kander scored the final goal of the first half as she was able to crossover multiple Pikeville defenders to beat the goalkeeper to the far post.
Lindsey Wilson took a 4-0 lead into the half, while the Blue Raiders also outshot the Tigers 10-0 in the half, with nine shot on goal.
In the second half, Lindsey Wilson controlled possession throughout the half. After Santellan crossed a ball into the box, a Pikeville defender knocked the ball into the net for an own goal as the Blue Raiders took a 5-0 lead in the 63rd minute.
Lindsey Wilson fired just four shots in the second half, while holding the Tigers to zero shots in the game as the Blue Raiders won the match, 5-0.
In the semifinals, the Blue Raiders face fourth-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.). In the regular-season matchup between the Lindsey Wilson and the Bulldogs, the Blue Raiders came away with a 3-1 win in Lebanon, Tenn.
Kickoff between Lindsey Wilson and Cumberland is slated for 8:30 p.m. CT from Lovers Lane Soccer Complex in Bowling Green, Ky.
