Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team lost Cumberland (Tenn.) in the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Friday evening.
Aleksi Pahkasalo scored the lone goal for Lindsey Wilson (14-5-1) in the 58th minute, but the Blue Raiders dropped the match to the Bulldogs (17-1-0), 2-1.
In a scoreless first half, the Blue Raider held a 6-4 shot advantage over Cumberland, including a shot from Pahkasalo that was cleared off the line by a Bulldog defender.
With the score tied 0-0 heading into the second half, the scoring picked up right off the bat, as Cumberland scored in the 51st minute. The Bulldogs came right back scoring their second goal of the game in the 53rd minute to take a 2-0 lead.
The Blue Raiders got on the board in the 58th minute as Anthony Tshimpi crossed a ball from the left flank into Pahkasalo and he redirected into the net to cut the lead to 2-1.
Lindsey Wilson tried to battle back in the final minutes as they had a handful of dangerous chances, but the Blue Raiders could not convert as the Cumberland won the match 2-1.
The Bulldogs now face top-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship.
Lindsey Wilson now waits to see if they receive an at-large bid into the NAIA National Tournament.
