Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. — Teanna Curry scored a career-high 30 points, but the Blue Raiders were defeated 91-74 by No. 1 Campbellsville (Ky.) in a Mid-South Conference game on Thursday at Biggers Sports Center.
Curry, who shot 9-of-17 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line, and Kayla Richardson, who scored 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting, combined for 50 points, but no other Blue Raider scored more than four points.
Campbellsville (7-3, 2-1 MSC) connected on 12-of-28 three-point attempts and turned the ball over 15 times, while Lindsey Wilson (6-2, 1-1 MSC) hit 5-of-16 from behind the arc and committed 23 turnovers.
The game started with the teams trading points throughout much of the first quarter with four ties and seven lead changes. The last tie came at 13-13 with 2:31 left in the period, and the Tigers ended the quarter on an 8-2 run, including a buzzer-beater by Madison Stewart to take a 21-15 lead at the end of the quarter. Both teams shot at least 50 percent in the quarter.
The Blue Raiders and Tigers continued to make shots in the second quarter. Lindsey Wilson hit on 6-of-11 shot attempts, and the Tigers sunk 8-of-13 field goal attempts. The Tigers were proficient from three-point land; they connected on 4-of-5 three-point shots. Lindsey Wilson shot 2-of-5 from deep in the period. The Tigers expanded their lead to as many as 13 points with 6:32 to go in the first half, but the Blue Raiders cut the deficit to nine with the score 45-36 at the half.
The Tigers took complete control after halftime.
Campbellsville scored the first 16 points of the third quarter to increase the Blue Raider deficit to 25 points at 61-36 with 5:40 to go in the period. The Tigers did not stop there, and built their lead to as many as 31 points with 1:42 to go in the quarter. The Blue Raiders cut into the deficit, but still trailed by 27 points going into the fourth quarter. Campbellsville built its lead by forcing eight turnovers while only committing two themselves, and shooting 14-of-23 in the third quarter while holding the Lindsey Wilson offense to 6-of-15 from the field.
The Blue Raiders attempted to get back in the game in the fourth quarter, and they cut their deficit to 19 points at 84-65 with 4:22 to go in the game, but that was as close as Lindsey Wilson would get. Campbellsville maintained control and rolled the rest of the way for the 91-74 win.
The Tigers' Emily Fox scored a team-high 24 points on 9-of-25 shooting, and LeeAnn Grider orchestrated the Campbellsville offense with 16 assists.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday to face MSC foe St. Catharine (Ky.) at 2 p.m. CT in Biggers Sports Center.
