Men's and Women's Swimming take down rival Campbellsville on Senior Night

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swimming teams closed out their first semester schedule on Friday night as they defeated Campbellsville (Ky.) in a dual meet. The women defeated the Tigers 116-74, while the men won by the score of 138-53.

During the first break of the meet, the Lindsey Wilson swimming program honored their five seniors on Senior Night. Dakota Hope, Paige Lewis, Elena Nikolaeva, Shelby Stevenson and Susan Herrington were all honored during the meet.

The women's team won eight events on the night, while the men grabbed first-place in nine events. Lindsey Wilson also combined for 13 qualifying standards as the women had eight and the men posted five.

For the women, the 200-yard medley relay team of Raeanne Spears, Caitlin Freeny, Courtney Fleeger and Dana Kaftan posted a time of 2:05.27, which placed them second in the event, but the team hit the national 'A' standard in the event.

In the 50-yard freestyle, the Blue Raiders swept the top-three spots in the event as Laura Stephenson won the event with a time of 25.49, which also qualified as an 'A' standard. Nikolaeva and Bailey Seitz finished in second and third, respectively. Both Nikolaeva and Seitz hit 'B' standards in the event with times of 25.94 and 26.37, respectively.

Stephenson hit her final individual 'A' standard of the night in the 100-yard butterfly as she won the event with a time of 59.42. She was the only racer in the event to break the one-minute mark.

Nikolaeva's second 'B' standard of the meet came in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.55, which was also good enough to capture a win in the event.

In the final event of the night for the women's team, the Blue Raiders finished first and third in the 200-yard freestyle relay and both Lindsey Wilson relay teams grabbed 'A' qualifying standards. The team of Seitz, Emily Wood, Nikolaeva and Stephenson grabbed first-place with a time of 1:45.22, while Freeny, Tori Caudill, Kylie Gehefer and Fleeger combined for a third-place with a time of 1:53.97.

On the men's side, the Blue Raiders started strong with a first and second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Jose Prado de Lima, Jonas Muller, Clemens Patzold and Zachary Patzer finished in first-place with a time of 1:40.37. Mark Richard, Taylor Thompson, Gage Setzer and Iker Larzabal finished the race in 1:44.94, which placed them in second. Both times from Lindsey Wilson qualified as 'A' qualifying standards.

Patzold posted a time of 1:50.29 in the 200-yard freestyle to win the event and post a 'B' standard. Patzold was nearly five second ahead of his teammate Patzer, who finished in second-place.

Prado de Lima captured his first individual qualifying time of the night in the 50-yard freestyle. He won the event with a time of 22.62, which was good enough for the 'B' qualifying standard.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Prado de Lima grabbed his second bonus standard of the meet with a time of 56.50, which won him the event. Lindsey Wilson also grabbed the top-three spots in the event as Larzabal and Richard finished in second and third, respectively. Prado de Lima was the only Blue Raider on the men's side to post two individual qualifying times at the meet.

Both the men's and women's swimming teams return to action on Jan. 16 as they host Milligan (Tenn.) in a dual meet at 1 p.m. CT.
