Box Score LIMA, Ohio -- A pair of early Northwestern Ohio goals proved to be too much to overcome for Lindsey Wilson men's soccer, falling 3-1 in the NAIA Men's Soccer Game of the Week at Racer Soccer Field.
The No. 2-ranked Racers scored twice in the first 16 minutes en route to the season-opening win. No. 9 Lindsey Wilson suffers its first loss of the season after two overtime wins to open 2015.
UNOH's Sean Latimer and Sergio Royo scored in 14th and 16th minutes to give the Racers a 2-0 lead. Latimer added a third goal in the 25th minute for a 3-0 lead.
Lindsey Wilson found a bit of magic in the waning seconds of the opening half.
Following a Northwestern Ohio foul with six seconds remaining until the break, Jordan Hall blistered a free kick from 30 yards out that found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 3-1. The goal is Hall's second of the season.
After an offensive first half, the two teams played a scoreless second frame resulting in a 3-1 UNOH win.
Both teams finished the game with 12 shots, but the Racers found the target seven times compared to just four shots on goal for the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Yuta Nomura allowed three goals while collecting four saves. UNOH's Liam Davies allowed one goal and finished with three saves.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Sept. 2 as the Blue Raiders host Tennessee Wesleyan at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
